1968 28' Concorde 28

Here is a most unusual fiberglass 1968 Owens Concorde 28 single screw Chrysler 318 that is a winter live aboard and summer cruiser located in New Haven, CT. Brunswick took over Owens in the late 60s and took this famous wooden boat builder into the world of fiberglass. While most 1968 Owens 28 Sedans are or were wood built, this boat is one of their first efforts in fiberglass, solid glass laid hull with glass over plywood decks, a combination that has proven very effective over time. As often found with these early fiberglass boats, this 1968 Owens 28 is over built, like the proverbial brick out house. A single Chrysler 318 powers this traditional sedan at a stately 18 knots at a 6 gph burn.
The present owner has added a removable plywood winter cockpit cover and enjoys this boat as a winter cottage. He has done serious interior renovation, new interior plumbing, new interior wiring, new treatments on the cabin soles, carpeting on the sides and tiles on the deck. There is a big forward berth set up with multi colored DC lighting and perched over a rather large woofer speaker. The galley is down, again newly appointed. Opposite is the dinette with newly upholstered seating for four. The head is to port, with an electric head and vanity sink.
On deck is the pilot house with the full helm to starboard with a helm seat.  The rest of the single level cockpit is open. The engine compartment, below the pilot house deck, is fully accessible with the single Chrysler 318, batteries, tanks, and systems readily at hand.
While this is a comfortable and imaginative winter live aboard, the plywood cockpit enclosure is easily removed and you are back to the simplicity of a classic Owens Concorde Sedan, ready to cruise the Islands as a trim traditional cabin cruiser.
